Lizeth Sanchez Zamudio

In Fall 2020, Lizeth joined the Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) Program, and since then, she has engaged with professionals who have inspired her to pursue a career in research. Lizeth was also appointed to the Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC) Program in September 2023 and, more recently, joined the CSU STEM Pathways & Research Alliance (CSU-SPaRA) Program in Fall 2025. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Astronomy, with minors in Mathematics and Honors Interdisciplinary Studies.  Lizeth is conducting galaxy research with Dr. Kate Rubin, who delves into extragalactic astronomy, galaxy formation and evolution, galactic winds and feedback, the circumgalactic medium, and QSO absorption line spectroscopy.

After completing her bachelor’s degree, she hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Planetary Science to conduct cutting-edge research and contribute new knowledge to the field. She is interested in answering questions about the formation and dynamics of major and minor bodies in the Solar System, and she looks forward to being part of the next generation of scientists, astronomers, and researchers who continue to learn more about the Universe.
